Why is it 3 5 7 7.

Fiona

Please give reasons for the answere or is it just

Random numbers

Jess

30=2x3x5

735=3x5x7x7

Peggy

Find the logic on another website: 30 goes to 235… I know, it’s the number’s factors in increasing order! 735′s factors are 3, 5, 7, and 7, so enter that.

The name of the site has “walkthrough” in it. Why would I go to another website to get the full walkthrough? Giving the answer just puts us at the finishline. There was no walkthrough withot the “logic” to get us to the answer.

Ribb

I leaned phone balloon covering the numbers on the wall at top left. Then I took the machete and smashed the balloon. Then it fell down numbers on the floor. (5,7,3). Use the numbers, 7 Teo Times’.

For those asking what the lines are it’s a factorial tree. You divide a number down to it’s factorial roots.

So for 30, you divide it down to 15×2…you then divide 15 and get 3×5….no numbers can be divided further so 2, 3, 5

For 735, you can do divide by 5 (I doubt most would see easily that it can be divided by 7 as well). You get 5×147,,,5 is prime…now you can more easily see the 147 can be divided by 7 such that 7×21….we now have 5 and 7 as prime numbers…and lastly 21 can be broken down to 3×7….this gives us 3,5,7,7

Mom

Best answer on here… Thank you!

The

Ater stages are becoming more illogical. How can you get the numbers 3,5,7,7? What’s the logic to get these numbers? What’s the dots and lines on the doors mean?

Baldrian

30=2*3*5 just as 735=3*5*7*7. The symbol on the door is ment to give you the idea of factoring the numbers. Personally I think it’s a bit misleading as there’s only one line out from the first dot (the top one). Another clue, if you are a nerd, is that 2, 3 and 5 are all prime numbers. Btw, you can put the paper scrap up on the wall above the door so you see the “(735, )” clearly.

Thank you to everyone who explained this, especially Baldrian (who did so properly, without being a patronising knob about it!) I haven’t done any kind of maths for decades, and I didn’t get the factors thing at all. I agree this site would be better if it included how the answer was worked out.

Mile

By that logic, why not 7 x 3 x 5 x 7 or 5 x 3 x 7 x 7. Where does the order come to play? Is there a clue about the order of numbers?

Dips

As pointed out by Baldrian, the clue is the tree on the door that represents factors. In order to get the factors for any number you start diving by the smallest number it can possibly be divided by to leave a whole number and then repeat the process until left with the number 1.

So for 30, divide by 2, leaving 15. Since this is not divisible by 2, the next number 15 can be divided by is 3 which then leaves 5. This can then only be divided by itself (5) thus leaving us with 1. Hence the factors of 30 are 2,3 & 5.

Similarly, with 735 the first factor is 3 which leaves 245. The smallest number that 245 is divisible by is 5 thus leaving 49. Smallest number that this can then be divided by is 7. Finally since 7 is a prime number it is only divisible by itself to leave 1. Hence the factors of 735 are 3,5,7 & 7.

Hope this helps answer the question about the order of the numbers! (Y)

It’s a factor tree. In the first pairing (30,235) 2*3*5=30 so u must figure out the four factors of 735.
