ENTER number 39.

At the request of many users, here is the reason why:

—–

Instead of using the values of the numbers, instead take the number of letters in each word and do your math calculations with these numbers, rather than the actual numbers.

Example: zero+four=eight

“zero” is 4 letters, “four” is 4 letters. 4+4=8.

So, “2+5+9*7+0*10=?” is actually:

3+4+4*5+4*3=?

If you remember your math rules, you do multiplication (and division if there were any) before addition and subtraction so:

3+4+(4*5)+(4*3)=?

3+4+20+12=?

?=39

Why 0+4=8??

johnny

But why is that the answer? Please explain.

bellaknoti

see, i hate it when people just give the answer, but don’t explain how they got there. yeah, i could just enter “39″ and go on to the next level, but i want to understand what the code means! -why- is the answer 39?

Chocolatebar

Count how many letters each word contains.

zero = 4 letters

four = 4 letters

So zero+four = 4 + 4 = 8 (eight)

2*7+8 is two*seven+eight, 3 letters * 5 letters + 5 letters, so 3*5+5 = 20

Finally, two+five+nine*seven+zero*ten is 3+4+4*5+4*3 = 39.

Brian

So why then do you add the actual numbers and twelve and not the corresponding number of letters? By the logic of this riddle the answer should be 19. Some of these problems are just arbitrary crap that require no thought or problem solving skills to solve, just random junk.

nadine

Brian u must of forgot that when doing problems that have both addition and multiplication(*) you must always multiply before you add … So look at it as 3+4+(5*4)+(4*3)=39

Brian

….sorry, should read “actual numbers 20 and 12…”

Karlee

Brian… your comment makes no sense…. Chocolatebar explained the riddle perfectly and it all makes sense – where the hell are you getting the numbers 20 and 12 from? Please explain how you got to 19…. I’d be real interested to know – because I can’t see how in any universe any of these sums come up to 19, using the method of looking past the actual number to the number of letters that make up the number…. This level isn’t random junk – just requires thinking slightly outside the box….

Emy

we are all cheaters…..
